A few words on NBC’s Olympics coverage.
February 20th, 2010
The furor over tape delay of events: Overblown.
The mix of pro-American and pro-other-people coverage: seems reasonable to me. (Relevant footnote: Aksel Svindal seems like an amazing person.)
Last night’s obsessive showing of pair after pair in the compulsory segment of the ice dancing competition: unforgivable.
And those are the thoughts I have to share for now.

The Olympics have always been tape delayed!!!! Where have all the folks been for the past 40-50 years????? Oh, not born, I forget!!!!! So sad about the ice skater’s mother who suddenly died. We grow to know these people!

Good point, Mom. I think that there are two issues here: (1) the fact that the Olympics are happening in North America means that there’s not a big time lag as in the case of, say, Beijing; and (2) The Internet.
